As an avid web user, I understand the importance of online security. That's why I was thrilled to discover ScriptSafe, a highly-rated Chrome extension that offers advanced security features to protect against various online threats. With a total rating of 3.9 based on user reviews, ScriptSafe has proven to be a valuable tool in my web browsing experience.
Whitelisting and Blacklisting for Granular Control
One of the standout features of ScriptSafe is its whitelisting and blacklisting functionality, which allows you to have complete control over which websites can run scripts on your browser. By creating a whitelist of trusted websites and a blacklist of potentially harmful ones, you can ensure that your browsing experience is safe and secure.
Fingerprinting Protection and WebRTC Leaks Prevention
ScriptSafe goes the extra mile in protecting your anonymity online. It offers fingerprinting protection, preventing websites from accessing details about your device and browser that can be used to track you. Additionally, it safeguards against WebRTC leaks, ensuring that your real IP address remains hidden.
Blocking Unwanted Content and Referrer Spoofing
Unwanted content, such as ads and tracking scripts, can be a nuisance and a security risk. ScriptSafe tackles this issue by blocking unwanted content from being downloaded, resulting in faster and smoother browsing. The extension also enables you to block click-through referrer data, protecting your privacy further.
Enhanced Privacy and Customization
With ScriptSafe, you can take control of your online privacy. The extension allows you to block unwanted cookies, spoof referrer/user-agent/timezone data, and even remove specific elements from web pages. It also provides an intuitive icon that changes based on the whitelisting or blacklisting status of a page, making it easy to identify trusted or potentially harmful websites.
Regular Updates and Community Support
Although ScriptSafe hasn't seen recent updates, it continues to work seamlessly and effectively. The developer, Andrew Y., has been responsive to bug reports and offers support through the GitHub platform. While the extension remains functional, it would be great to see further development in the future.
Conclusion
In my experience, ScriptSafe has been a game-changer for enhancing my web browsing security. Its robust features, including whitelisting, blacklisting, fingerprinting protection, and unwanted content blocking, provide peace of mind while navigating the online world. While there may be some minor inconveniences and the lack of recent updates, ScriptSafe remains a reliable and essential Chrome extension for anyone concerned about their online privacy and security.
If you're ready to take control of your web browsing security, I highly recommend giving ScriptSafe a try. Enjoy a safer and more secure online experience with this powerful Chrome extension.

Been using this as noscript for years in Firefox and Seamonkey. The best plugin if you're serious about trying to control the trackers and whatever crazy javascript is out there on the web. When you use it you will see how fundamentally broken the entire web is without javascript so you'll be enabling a lot of domains to start. Not for greenhorns.
10 Years of use, and wow, the fact that Chrome is now removing the V2 manifest and causing this to break is bad. Looking for a browser that supports about 15 of my extensions that will die with manifest v3. Also, this has been almost flawless of an app all of these years. The last fix I recall that changed this for the better was the ability to sync across browsers! The fact that I can export my lists with a simple file out of the config is great. Yes, I needed to spend time allowing sites, but that is the point of managing your security! This has been a power users tool for all of these years
I've been using this for many years, sad to see it go off support. Does anyone have an alternative? I loved browsing with scripts off and enabling pieces as needed.
Best chrome extension so far <3 Please update this marvel
Gets the job done. I've used it for years.
Useless extension with fake protection. The disclaimer states: "Due to the nature of this extension, this will break most sites! It is designed to learn over time with sites that you allow." Of course, you don't know what sites to allow. That's why you would like this extension to protect you from malicious sites. If you simply have to turn if off each time you visit a site it's useless. Just opening any website is impossible without turning off this extension. We need an extension which protects you and allows you to visit safe websites without having to turn off this extension.
Good addon. Just too complex for me.
Please update.. Recently causing Chrome crashes.
This is a five start app most of the time, but I gave it a single star for the following reasons. First, there is no way to export/import the block list. I want to be able to see what it is that I've put in, that can be used in other places, with Pi-hole DNS being an excellent example. Second, the blocking details are not saved in Google Accounts. Every time I log into a new browser I have to START FROM SCRATCH despite having a well trained ScriptSafe somewhere else. Please fix these misfeatures.
works as intended, unfortunately i have to disable it to pass most captchas, it is kind of pointless to wear armor, disrobe so people can plant a bomb under my skin via surgery and then put the armor back on. I would like for it to kinda have a way to pass captcha without having to disable it.
it is the belter
I have used this script blocker for years. Don't listen to anyone about it being out of date or getting false positive scans. It is light weight and does exactly what it needs to. Combined with ad blockers, I haven't gotten any ads in years, period, even on videos. Highly recommend.
Thank you very much! :)
RED FLAG: This has not been updated in over 6 years. It was great years ago, but not now.
Recomandation: Removal is a good ideea. This is anwanted ( antivirus found this as PUP.JolyWallet.script
Overall very good compliment to uBlock Origin for blocking as/malware domains.
Love this as a noscript solution. Recently the extension icon is stuck as the grey one though, which makes me think it's disabled.
This project appears abandoned, no updates in 4 years (since 2017.) I just updated Vivaldi browser to the latest 5.0 version and Hotmail would not open properly until I disabled scriptsafe, which made me check on updates to the extension for current browsers, which are quite different from those only a few months, let alone 4 years old... I'm thinking I need to go back to NoScript, which is updated constantly and works in all browsers now.
Great tool, robust, but appears to have been abandoned. There are a lot of features that aren't controllable on a granular level. Sometimes a site will be broken and no matter how many things you allow, it'll still be broken until you disable Scriptsafe altogether. There's no option to disable on a per-domain basis either, it's all or nothing in that regard. Still, there are a TON of privacy related features as well as ad and script blocking. Great tool, but has flaws and unfortunately it isn't being updated any longer.
This is one of the best browser extensions I've ever used. I understand it can be frustrating for some people to have to take the time to figure out what scripts are needed to make pages run, but I feel so much safer browsing the internet with this, and I personally only see it as a minor inconvenience in my typical browsing. The only thing I have to say against it is that it hasn't been updated in a while, which is a real shame. In fact, I believe it can no longer be downloaded on Firefox as a result (and I didn't realize any of this until I suggested a friend download it and couldn't get a download link for him). The extension still works just fine despite the lack of updates, but I would be thrilled to see development continue on this extension. Thank you for the fantastic browser extension! I'll keep holding out hope that you'll keep working on it again sometime!
if something hasnt been updated since before the pandemic then its not up to scratch.
